Macintosh Design
A collection of things about Lisa/Macintosh-era Apple Computer that interest me. More details here.
About
I’m fascinated by the software design of the original Macintosh. The paradigms and concepts that the Mac OS introduced are mostly the same ones in use in today’s Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems, as well as most Linux distributions. What’s more, the team at Apple brought these groundbreaking changes to the computer industry on machines with limited resources.
So, what’s this blog about?
The simplest way to say it is that this blog is stuff that I find interesting about Apple Computer, ca. 1984-ish. I have a software background, so the content will probably skew that way.
Longer version: it’s about Macintosh-128k-era Apple Computer, with an emphasis on software design. What does that mean? Well, you’ll get some stuff about HCI, because the Mac was a big deal for usability. You’ll get some stuff about the Lisa, because the Mac took a few cues from that computer. You’ll get some software stuff, you’ll get some hardware stuff. You’ll get some other Apple-related stuff from the time.
And, yes, you may even get some occasional Macintosh pr0n. So, deal with it.
History of this blog
Eventually, I found that I had so many bookmarks about the Lisa, the Mac 128k and the original Mac OS that I decided I needed a place to put them all and a place to put new stuff as I find it. This is that place.
I make this site mainly for myself, but feel free to follow.
